On the occasion of Holi today, which is the fourth Holi for this blog, here is a Holi song from “Aakhir Kyon” (1985). The time from 1980s onwards was when my period of blackout from Hindi movies had begun, so it comes as no surprise that I am not much familiar with the music of those days. Personally I came across this Holi song just now and I found it quite a hummable and danceable song.

Here is this nice Holi song from “Aakhir Kyon” (1985). The song is sung by Anuradha Paudwal, Amit Kumar and chorus. The song is picturised on Rakesh Roshan, Smita Patil, Tina Munim and many others. Smita Patil is the only one who is not participating in the revelry of Holi while others are singing and dancing as befits a Holi song. Smita Patil manages to sport a superwhite red sari as they depict in detergent ads while others are going around in stained clothes. I wonder how ad agencies of detergent companies have failed to utilise the festival of holi to peddle their wares. This song may serve as some inspiration for them. “Do you want to have super white clothes even in the midst of holi revelry, use super XYZ, it can whiten even coloured clothes” and so on.
Indeewar is the lyricist and music is composed by Rajesh Roshan.
On this occasion, I wish all a happy and safe Holi.
